Sportingbet's October acquisition of the world's third-largest online poker operator, ParadisePoker.com, dispelled any doubts about the recent growth of internet gaming. The $297m deal, gave the online sports betting and casino operator a 10% stake of the worldwide online poker market, and helped boost the share price as the City welcomed the move.
According to figures from PokerPulse.com, which tracks online poker usage, PartyPoker is the world's biggest online poker site/network. Second is PokerStars, while ParadisePoker is third.
