It's no dice on rice.

The Commissioners have voted unanimously to deny a petition requesting a rule trade regulation for the advertising and marketing of basmati and jasmine rice.

Last year, the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology; the Center for Food Safety; and the International Center for Technology Assessment asked the FTC to begin a rulemaking proceeding to ban advertisers and marketers from using the terms "basmati" or "jasmine" to characterize rice grown in the U.S.
