Amazon.com privacy practices escape FTC.

The Commission has decided not to sue Amazon.com for allegedly deceptive privacy policy statements, outgoing FTC Consumer Protection Bureau Chief Joan Z. Bernstein informed Junkbusters President Jason Catlett and Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) Executive Director Marc Rotenberg in a May 24 letter.

In December, Junkbusters and EPIC petitioned the FTC to investigate and take action against Amazon.com, saying that under its revised privacy policy, Amazon may now disclose personal information about consumers who previously selected "never."

But Bernstein says that Amazon.com's policy switch has not been implemented
