Damon steps in for DiCaprio to `Shepherd' CIA film.
LOS ANGELES _ After playing Jason Bourne in "The Bourne Supremacy," Matt Damon is looking to slip back into the secret agent role.
The 34-year-old actor is in early talks to star in Robert De Niro's pet CIA project "The Good Shepherd," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Damon replaces Leonardo DiCaprio, who dropped out of the film.
Damon's involvement will be a shot in the arm for "Shepherd," which lost its prospective financer, Initial Entertainment Group more than two weeks prior. Instead, Morgan Creek is in early discussions to finance the project with Universal Pictures handling the domestic release.
