TOKYO _ A stablemaster who holds senior positions in the Japan Sumo Association will have to close his stable because he cannot attract young Japanese sumo wrestlers.
The stablemaster, Oshiogawa, formerly _ ozeki Daikirin, has raised 11 sekitori _ wrestlers fighting in the _ second tier juryo division or above_over the past 29 years. He is on the sumo association's board of directors and is head judge, but has decided to close his stable after the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament ends next March.
It is very unusual for a stablemaster who started his own stable and raised sekitori by himself to make such a decision.
