LOS ANGELES _ When seen last, UCLA was floating off the field at Autzen Stadium after an upset victory at Oregon, lingering long enough to bellow the school fight song in a corner of the north end zone. The Bruins were ecstatic. And, with the victory, they also were bowl eligible.
But that was Nov.13 _ more than two weeks ago.
The Bruins resumed preparations this week for their shot at No.1 USC and snapping a five-game losing streak to the Trojans, there is some concern about getting back into game speed. There is also concern about an offense having to play with a dulled edge, about an already malleable defense suffering from a lack of use.
