MIAMI _ Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, ever the diplomat, gushed about the University of Miami football players during a Monday teleconference as if they already had secured a spot in the FedEx Orange Bowl national championship game.

``I can tell you I was feeling pretty good about things until I turned the Miami film on,'' said Beamer, whose No. 10 Hokies (9-2, 6-1 ACC) come to Miami to face the No. 9 Hurricanes (8-2, 5-2) in the unofficial Atlantic Coast Conference championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
