Dear Advice Diva:

My boyfriend suggested I write you. We are both in our mid-40s. He has two young teens and I have a 12-year-old. We met in the neighborhood and live a few blocks from each other. We have been sweethearts for about a year and a half. Here's the rub: I live in a large house, have no mortgage, low taxes and my 83-year-old mother lives next door. She is entirely independent and it is a joy for me and my son to have such easy access to her. There are no privacy issues.
