Six graduates of Century High School in Los Lunas have something to say to the people who doubted they would ever finish high school.

"We did it, we did what you never thought we would," said Elvia Acosta, 19. Acosta is the mother of 3-year-old Valeria Acosta.

"I'm proud to prove all those people wrong."

Acosta and Candace Aragon, Aaron Peralta, Jacquelyn Pittington, Elia Ramirez and Angela Griego, all 19, were awarded $100 scholarships at a ceremony at the University of New Mexico-Valencia campus on Wednesday. They graduated from Century High School in the spring.
