Former Pitcher Rick Wise Looks Back on 18-Year Career.
Right-hander posted 188 big league victories including a no-hit, two-homer game with the Phillies in 1971
ON JUNE 23, 1971, RICK WISE, then 25, did something that had never been done before or since in the 125-year history of professional baseball. On a muggy night at Cincinnati's (then-named) Riverfront Stadium,
Wise not only pitched a no-hitter for the visiting Phillies but hit two home runs in the same game. Even more phenomenal was that the slender right-hander wasn't at full strength.
