FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Erik Bedard got what he wanted Tuesday when the young left-hander was named to Baltimore's starting rotation.
Bedard, who is 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA in five games (two starts), will pitch a game in the minors before he makes his major league debut April 10 in Tampa Bay.
"I thought that I had no shot," said Bedard, who had Tommy John surgery in September 2002. "I thought that I would be in the first cut. When he called me in (Tuesday), I thought that I was being sent down. This is exciting."
