Consumption of green tea does not protect against gastric cancer, reported Dr. Yoshitaka Tsubono of Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, and associates.
In a prospective cohort study done in an area in northern Japan with a high incidence of gastric cancer, more than 33,000 residents completed questionnaires on lifestyle risk factors in 1984. Of these, 419 developed gastric cancer between 1984 and 1992.
