SAN FRANCISCO -- Some older women maintain their physical function during adjuvant therapy for breast cancer as well as--and perhaps better than--younger women, Dr. James M. Watters reported at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology
"Selected older women tolerate this therapy at least as well as younger women," said Dr. Watters, a surgeon at Ottawa Hospital. "I think [this study] encourages us to look a little more closely and not simply say, 'They're older, so they shouldn't have this therapy because they won't tolerate it.'"
