The fitness test for Chicago police officers isn't exactly a cakewalk, but given the minimal requirements, most reasonably healthy people wouldn't have trouble passing it.
To make sure, I put myself through the running, flexibility and strength portions of the test. Despite being about 15 pounds heavier than normal (and five months pregnant), I met the standards for a 37-year-old woman.
Still, few police officers bother to take the voluntary exam, which tests upper-body strength and includes a 1.5-mile run, situps and a sit-and-reach flexibility test.
