LEXINGTON, Ky. _ The Kentucky football team seemed ready to fight all night against Arkansas to improve their bowl hopes, and for a while it seemed like the Cats would do just that.

The two teams exchanged blows for an NCAA-record-tying seven overtimes, but in the end the gallant but exhausted Cats ran out of magic.

DeCori Birmingham scored on a 25-yard run in the seventh overtime, and the Arkansas defense stopped quarterback Jared Lorenzen on a fourth-down run as the Hogs outlasted the Cats 71-63 in the highest-scoring football game in UK history.

Both teams had numerous chances to put the other way, but neither could land the knockout blow.

Birmingham's run and Jason Peters' two-point conversion catch from Matt Jones gave the Hogs an eight-point lead.
