BILOXI, Miss. _ Haley Barbour answers question after question not only directly, but with great detail, recalling the most minute facts, figures and details, quoting passages from numerous news articles nearly verbatim, from memory. Although the interview is near the end of what had to be an exhausting day of campaigning, Barbour is collected, pausing in his oratory only long enough to allow the reporter to keep up taking notes. He talks in a mouth-full-of-marbles Southern drawl that some claim is an affectation, and at one point throws in a good-ole-boy phrase: "We're eating our feed corn," while making a point about the state budget.
