There is no way the Kobe-Shaq duo stays together past this season, let alone the rest of this calendar year, given this nasty public rift. Kobe Bryant was already talking about opting out of his contract after this season to test the free agent market, and this has essentially shoved him out the door, and possibly has given the Lakers reason to trade Bryant for fear of losing him for nothing next summer.
Well, maybe there is a reason this will all work out again. And it has nothing to do with the coaching talents of Phil Jackson or how a championship will mask any personal problems between Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.
It has everything to do with the state of mind Bryant is in right now, and how different it might be next summer.
