DETROIT _ Joe Dumars already has noticed a difference between Pistons coach Larry Brown and some of his predecessors. Dumars, the team's president of basketball operations, recalled a recent play in practice.
"We ran a play, but the guys didn't run it the right way," Dumars said. "We scored on the play, but because it wasn't run the right way, he got all over them. He pays attention to every detail. That's what makes him a great coach."
Brown is more than a detail guy, though. He's starting his 25th season as a professional basketball coach, and if he has learned one thing more than anything else, it's that the NBA is a players league.
His approach in his first season with the Pistons has been eye-opening.
