The debate over prescription drug prices has heated up in the past few months, stoked in no small part by growing anger and suspicion among many that the American consumer is being gouged by the big drug manufacturers.

Reimportation _ allowing individuals and groups to legally import cheaper drugs from Canada and other countries _ is one proposed solution. Gov. Rod Blagojevich jumped in Monday with a report that says Illinois taxpayers, state employees and retirees could save nearly $91 million a year if Illinois were allowed to buy drugs from Canada.
