Oct. 28--TAMPA, Fla.--Fans of Star 95.7 FM woke up Monday to the soulful rock sounds of John Mayer, but fell asleep to Eminem and R. Kelly.
Clear Channel Communications, owner of eight Tampa Bay area radio stations, switched formats for WSSR, 95.7 FM, Monday afternoon, adopting a hip-hop, R&B format from its previous alternative adult contemporary format. About 10 Star employees were expected to be laid off, including on-air personalities, said Clear Channel regional Vice President Dave Reinhart.
