1. On October 1, at 6:15 P.M., BEN HEPPNER will be interviewed at Lincoln Center's Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse by Rudolph S. Rauch, as part of THE METROPOLITAN OPERA GUILD LECTURE SERIES. Other October events will include a lecture by Bridget Paolucci on THE ART OF MARIA CALLAS (Oct. 21). 2. Thirteeen/WNET NewYork's GREAT PERFORMANCES begins its thirty-first season on PBS on October 29 at 8 P.M. (EST), with a compendium of three gala performances by the LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC, led by ESA-PEKKA SALONEN. The concerts, taped at WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL, the Philharmonic's new home, will feature new works by JOHN ADAMS and JOHN WILLIAMS, as well as a star turn by special guest AUDRA MCDONALD. 3. DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON soon will issue eleven new DVDs of telecasts by the METROPOLITAN OPERA. The first tide available will be FIDELIO, with JAMES LEVINE leading KARITA MATTILA, BEN HEPPNER, FALK STRUCKMANN and RENE PAPE in Jurgen Flimm's 2000 production. The release date for Fidelio is November 11; other titles will follow in 2004.
