Dierks Bentley is on a roll.
Last week, Bentley's country-rocker "What Was I Thinkin'" was the top country song in the nation, with him and his girl in a "little white tank-top" beating out twanging titans Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw. This week it's at No. 2.
His debut album _ with his writing credit on 11 of 13 songs _ opened at No. 4 and is at No. 12.
And he's out on the road with his band, mixing club gigs with opening slots for Brooks & Dunn, Hank Williams Jr. and Pat Green.
Bentley, 27, took a few minutes before sound check at a Thousand Oaks, Calif., club to chat.
