The common thread for all three athletes: concussions and their lingering effects. They have wrestled with the issues now confronting Raiders linebacker Bill Romanowski, who is considering whether to continue his career after a series of concussions in the team's first three games this season.
Like Romanowski, they pored over research and sought out the most knowledgeable doctors.
They found no easy answers.
