PHENIX CITY, Ala. _ Edna Miles, 66, remembers like yesterday the morning she sang a solo in her church as a 16-year-old and some of her singing gave way to speaking. You know how it goes. The music's wafting softly in the background, and the singer says something like, "Ain't God good?" and starts giving testimony.
But in this case, the preacher _ who's now deceased _ walked out of the church. He interpreted the young woman's speaking as preaching and didn't believe women should preach.
