GREENHOUSE POLLUTION COMES mainly from wealthy countries, and the energy debate in Australia has tended to be more about economics than people. But it is the people living in developing nations--particularly small island states--who are feeling the brunt of climate change.
Closest to home are the seven million people who live in the Pacific Islands. Although Pacific countries contribute less than one per cent of global greenhouse pollution (2) they are already suffering the lion's share of extreme weather events and other climate change impacts.
