Supply-chain management has a new champion: the chief financial officer. Driven by cost-cutting needs and general dissatisfaction with this core competency, chief financial officers are adding supply-chain management to the financial levers they already control, a new survey reports.

The survey by CFO Research Services was developed jointly with Atlanta-based UPS Consulting, which funded the research. The findings are based on a mail survey of 247 senior financial executives and telephone interviews with an additional 15 executives.
