Sep. 27--Moccasin Wallow Road, a rural swath of land in the north part of the county, could soon sprout as many as 253 homes, bringing development to an area previously known for its orange groves and proximity to Piney Point.
Haydon Rubin-Development Inc. of Clearwater wants to put 145 residences on a 40-acre grove at the intersection of Moccasin Wallow and Bud Rhoden Road.
The property is zoned agriculture, but the developer faces a land-use hearing before the Manatee County Planning Commission next month to change the zoning to planned development ...
