SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. -- Half of all women who fail treatment for urinary incontinence with pubovaginal sling surgery may be cured by repeating the sling procedure, results of a small trial suggest.
Dr. Steven P. Petrou performed a second suburethral, pubovaginal sling procedure in 14 women who remained incontinent after initial sling surgery. The second procedure cured urinary incontinence in seven patients according to validated measures, he said at a urogynecology conference sponsored by the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale.
