MILWAUKEE _ One definitive sign that the Milwaukee Brewers were playing better baseball lately was the three-week paid vacation of long reliever Dave Burba, who hadn't pitched since Aug. 9 when Cincinnati came to town Monday.
Burba, who sees action only when a starting pitcher makes a premature exit, was up in the bullpen as early as the third inning. By the sixth, he was in the game.
"It's a Catch-22 for me," said Burba. "When I'm not pitching, it means the team is winning."
