FORT WORTH, Texas _ A.J. Foyt IV aced his Indy Racing League competition license test at Texas Motor Speedway on Thursday, paving his way for a full-time ride on grandfather A.J. Foyt Jr.'s revised two-car team in 2003.
The reigning champion of the Infiniti Pro Series, Foyt IV will team with Airton Dare of Brazil for the full 16-race IRL schedule. Foyt IV replaces veteran Eliseo Salazar of Chile on a team A.J. confirmed is searching for primary sponsorship to replace Harrah's Entertainment, Inc.
The promotion from the league's first-year developmental series means that Foyt IV will relinquish his duties as right-front tire-changer on Dare's pit crew. ...
