SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ With just four days left before the election, one of every four California voters remains uncommitted to either Democratic Gov. Gary Davis or Republican Bill Simon in the governor's race, according to a new Field Poll.
And 61 percent of those undecided voters said they will choose a third party candidate or decline to cast any vote for governor.
To have 25 percent of California voters undecided or choosing a third party candidate this close to an election is extraordinary, said Field Poll director Mark DiCamillo.
"That's astounding," DiCamillo said. "It's a total rejection of both the major party candidates."
