Is salt always harmful to blood pressure?

Should everybody try to reduce salt intake, even if their blood pressure is normal?

These are common questions nutritionists receive and are questions debated in the medical community as well. In fact, whether or not to restrict sodium for the treatment of high blood pressure is one of the more contentious debates in nutrition and health.

For nearly 40 years, scientists have been researching the issue. Many studies fail to show that sodium restriction significantly benefits blood pressure.
