US Airways may have new round of layoffs, sources say.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)

The airline industry's dizzying decline has US Airways contemplating more layoffs just 11 days after the last round of cuts, industry sources said Friday.

"I'm hearing rumblings there might be another round of layoffs," said a union source who declined to be named. The sources did not specify how many more cuts are planned.

The airline, which is operating under bankruptcy court protection, would not comment Friday on whether there would be more job cuts. "The company will continue to closely watch economic conditions and the impact they could have on our business," said spokesman David Castelveter.
