CHICAGO, IL -- A report released August 28th by the Delta Institute concluded that industrial plants, schools, hospitals, and other facilities can both lower fuel usage and cut their emissions by making simple changes in operations.
The report stated that more than 40,000 industrial, commercial, and institutional boilers are in use in facilities ranging from paper mills to prisons. Collectively, industrial boilers represent more than 10% of the national emissions total for certain toxic compounds. These plants are smaller than utility-scale power plants and so are often overlooked when discussing pollution control.
