PORTLAND, OR -- Clackamas County officials are looking at the possible public purchase of Portland General Electric (PGE), the Oregonian reports.

Promoters of the plan want Clackamas and five other counties to jointly form Willamette Valley Power, a new public entity that would manage the utility. Willamette Valley Power would purchase PGE's assets with revenue bonds, the newspaper says.
