Alto Gerard Lesne, who got his start performing rock and electronic music, may not be so much of a celebrity as his countertenor counterparts, but he is a terrifically beguiling singer. His voice is soulful and cushiony, expressive and multicolored. Some falsetto singers shy away from consonants, as if closer attention to diction might derail their vocal production. Lesne takes great care to paint the words, knitting the consonants to his plangent sound and caressing them tasetfully for dramatic impact.
