WASHINGTON, DC -- A life cycle cost (LCC) analysis guide that specifically addresses pumping systems has been developed by the Hydraulic Institute and Europump, in cooperation with U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT).

Pumping systems account for nearly 20% of the world's energy demand and, in some industrial operations, account for 20% to 50% of energy costs, an OIT publication notes. However, because pumps function as a component of larger systems, companies may overlook opportunities to save energy and money and improve pump system performance.
