Readers provide more information about rebate availability, energy metering, and lighting costs
Merely raising the subject of energy rebates seems to invite a host of inquiries from readers looking for one free comprehensive listing of state and utility rebates nationwide. Each time I have looked into the idea I have come away believing that no such animal exists. Utilities are particularly non-responsive to queries about rebates. One reader outlines his solution to this very common problem. Others provide another perspective on energy metering and lighting and HVAC first costs. -- The editor
Rebates
Dear Editor:
I would like to report that Grubb and Ellis Management Services investigated several free sources of rebate information (Energy Project Funding Sources Revealed, May p. 4) only to find that none of them were both complete and up-to-date.
We soon realized that to get a current and comprehensive listing of all rebate offers, we would have to invest a tremendous amount of our own staff's time to first research all the possible sources of rebates, and then build a database to hold it all so that it could be matched against each of our clients' buildings.
