Advise Annual Pap Tests Despite Negative Results.
Women should be advised to continue having annual Pap smears even when they have negative results in consecutive years, according to Dr. Laura C. Collins of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, and her associates.
The investigators reviewed d the records of 63 women found to have cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or 3 on biopsy and whose preceding Pap smears had shown high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL).
