Bone mineral density measured at the femoral neck by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry is the best predictor of hip fracture, according to a new report on osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
Authors of the report, which was issued by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, based their findings on data from more than 1,200 studies.
Other findings include:
