ARLINGTON, Texas _ The trifecta of humiliation is complete. The Rangers have managed to be swept by each of the three worst teams in the American League.
Tampa Bay, which had not swept a team since the first week of the season, finished off the triple play with an 8-3 win Sunday at The Ballpark in Arlington. Tampa Bay, with the worst record in baseball, squeaked by in the first two games, but took advantage of eight walks by Rangers pitchers to make the series finale a walkover.
Earlier in the season, the Rangers had been swept by Detroit, with the second-worst winning percentage in the league, and Kansas City, which stands just ahead of Detroit.
