OAKLAND, Calif. _ The Twins put August behind them and went straight to October on Sunday.
In a tense, pitching-rich game played in front of 37,676 screaming, horn-playing, flag-waving fans, the Twins hit three home runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead only to have the Oakland A's beat them, 7-5, in the bottom of the ninth on MVP candidate Miguel Tejada's game-ending, three-run homer off Twins closer Eddie Guardado.
"That's one for the books," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.
