FORT WORTH, Texas _ It feels good to be done with August.

Been a very baaaaad month in the jock kingdom. Been waiting anxiously on September.

But now, with August finally gone, let us all be thankful for small blessings.

Like no longer having to endure that daily enema otherwise known as baseball labor negotiations.

By Friday morning, as this new deal still hung in limbo, I was willing to take out a loan and personally bankroll the difference between the luxury tax, the revenue sharing and the cost of bubble baths replacing postgame showers for the players. "Anything to remove the union sheep and the idiot owners from TV screens and newspapers.

Then there's that other August evil: NFL exhibition games.

Is there a better way? Can something be done?
