Aug. 31--California's controversial $6.6 billion electricity contract with Sempra Energy is close to being scuttled in favor of a revised agreement, according to the regulatory judge overseeing settlement talks.
The San Diego-based power producer has made "extremely good progress" in its negotiations with California, Curtis Wagner Jr., chief administrative law judge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, said yesterday at the talks in Washington, D.C.
"We're almost there," Wagner said.
