As a health writer, I congratulate Better Nutrition, and especially writer Michael Downey, on a brief but excellent summary of the issues surrounding the health aspects of America's public drinking water ("Trouble on Tap," June 2002, p. 32).

Being well-versed in water safety myself, I am impressed that you managed to furnish readers with a summary of each of the key risks, even within such a short piece. When I've written about drinking water, I've always been forced to select one issue alone--chlorine, fluoride, chemicals and so on--in order to sufficiently educate readers to grasp the reasons behind the advice given. Your staff has done a masterful job of getting so much information into one article.

Keep up the good work.
