Former players recall how Hall of Famer provided leadership through his approach to the game

WILLIE STARGELL NEED NOT have worried about carving out a legacy in life.

Upon his death, the collective reaction of his baseball contemporaries speaks volumes about the impact of Wilver Dornel Stargell, the man.

Stargell, a Hall of Famer who played 21 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, died of a stroke on April 9, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 61.

Ironically, the Pirates played their first game at the new PNC Park just hours after Stargell died.

Stargell earned his way to Cooperstown by belting 475 career home runs ...
