Dec. 28--Despite a slowing economy and the uncertainty following the September terrorist attacks, Ventura County's real estate market will end 2001 on a strong note.

Total sales may not end this year ahead of 2000's total, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing considering both 1999 and 2000 were "off the chart" years, said Elaine Pettersen, president of the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors.

What definitely will be ahead of last year are sales prices. Homeowners have seen double digit appreciation for most of this year, according to data compiled by the California Association of Realtors and DataQuick Information …
