As the summer wound to a close in North America, a contingent of the BMA leadership traveled to China, a nation they found to be in the "springtime" of its embrace of BACnet technology. Meeting and sharing ideas with interested parties from academia, business, and the government convinced all involved that a long, rewarding road awaits as China continues to learn about and incorporate BACnet.
The week-long journey started in the industrial city of Wuhan for the group, including Steve Bushby (SSPC 135 Chairman), SSPC Past Chairman Mike Newman, and BMA president Jim Lee. The centerpiece of the Wuhan stay was a group's seminar presentation entitled "BACnet Key Technology and its Development." The presentations (enthusiastically translated by Professor Lang Kefu (College of Business Management)) were followed by a presentation by a Chinese professor who had made a similar trip to explore the state of BACnet in the U.S.
While in Wuhan the delegation also had the opportunity to visit two "economic development zones" at Zhuankou and East Lake, where participating companies enjoy special tax and real estate pricing incentives. So many companies are manufacturing products related to fiber optic communication that ...
