NEWPORT NEWS, Va. _ Sixty-four percent of shoppers on the Peninsula plan to spend as much or more this holiday season than they did last Christmas, according to a random survey commissioned by the Newport News Daily Press.
Of those surveyed, 50 percent said they were going to spend about the same amount as they did last year, 14 percent said they were going to spend more this holiday season, and 29 percent said they were going to spend less.
