LOOKING FOR SOME evidence that queerdom begins in childhood? Then check out Baby Dykes, a collection of photographs compiled by Shelly Roberts (Alyson $12.95). Whether it be photos of writers Joan Nestle, Linda Villarosa and Leslea Newman all femmed up in frilly little dresses or long-term partners Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin as wide-eyed 1-year-olds, this slim volume is chock-full of laughs. I enjoyed looking through and chuckling at the photos of many friends and acquaintances as cute little kids. My only complaint about the book is that some women are represented in more than one photo, sometimes even on the same spread.
